70 Days. 1870s heirloom.  An American standard with distinctive reddish-orange skin. Excellent, old fashioned, sweet carrot flavor. Direct sow is best. Sow barely covered as soon as soil can be worked in Spring. Succession sow until mid- July for Fall/Winter harvest. Frost produces the sweetest roots. Prefers well cultivated and amended soil but Danvers also performs well in heavy soils, full to part sun, and consistent moisture. Resists splitting and is heat resistant. Excellent for fresh use, juicing, cooking, roasting, cold storage, canning, freezing, and freeze drying. daucus carota
