55 Days. Heirloom. Also known as Nero, or Dinosaur Kale. Sturdy, upright plants reach 3-4' tall and 2 1/2' wide. Very best flavor in cooler temperatures. Best variety for soups/stews as it holds its shape well. Sow indoors in late winter for transplanting out in mid-Spring. Can also be direct sown as soon as soil can be worked in Spring. Kale prefers rich, well amended soil with consistent, even moisture and full to part sun. Leaves can be harvested at any stage. Use raw, sauteed, in your favorite recipes, and in juicing.
